GMAIL for website :: reliable?

I am planning to introduce gmail for websites for my forums users (in total 10,000+).

I am just curious if it is reliable or not to do so ..?

    Any tips or cautions ?

I have been using it for the past few weeks and haven't faced any problems yet, although I have been using only 2-3 accounts, no where near the 10000+ that you want to create :)

No i dont want to create 10,000+ accounts.

No reason why it shouldn't. GMail makes everything scalable. You introducing 10k members is just going to be hard for YOU to administrate -- I'm sure they've counted on the resources for that already, no worries :).

Their CSV tool for importing accounts it's pretty neat but I'm curious if they have limits in this respect. In theory more accounts the better, Gmail is supported by the contextual ads ...

BTW, how do you find out if you have an account limit or not? I've only created 3 accounts so far and heard no error beep :)

    http://www.google.com/hosted/

You foward your MX (Mail eXchange) servers to Google's and can create @yourdomain.tld email addresses that are fully accessible with all the features of GMail (The best webbased client for email ever written).

In the top left where it says "Account Plan" click there and it will drop down and let you know. I think I asked for 150 and got them all only took a few days for the invite as well.

I’m not missing any options am I? I cant seem to set every ones account the same. I wont to be able to set the pop access to yes. Also what would be nice if that annoying bar at the top of the inbox could be set to my rss feed (well I would make one if that’s possible) by default.

has anyone tried setting this up for more than one domain? If so is it controlled in the same dashboard it wouldn’t mind being able to give my customers a choice of domains when they sign up.

If I’m missing something then please let me know and if not I will be emailing Mr Google and asking if there’s any chance of these options at some point.

I'm also planning to provide gmail for my forum members (10k+). Which BBS are you using Mong? I'm curious to know if switching my mail server to gmail will not affect those board emails that are automatically sent. (registration confirmation, PM notifications, form mails et al) ?

The weakest link will most likely be your DNS server as google has a pretty nifty setup!

It'd be a great if Google could give a cut of adsense earnings from the mailbox of to the domain owner. Correct me if I am wrong, Gawab used to do that.

If you can use the MX entry at your Domain name registrar and not your Webhost then its the best.

Thats wat i've done, so even if your webhost is down i dont miss any mails, as the registrar is hardly ever down.

I have read somwhere (Account Plan) that limit is 1000.As i said total regiserterd users are just more than 10,000 but you must know that it doesn't mean that active users are 10,000.
It is really troublesome to create all the accounts by hand.
I think there would be some link to signup :p

Thanks Savo, I asked for 25 and 25 they are, it took one day for me, pretty fast compared to other Google beta services (Analytics took about 3 months :D).

I think last time I logged in the manager nearby the "Account Plan" text was a note: "Updating". Probably after MX propagation they updated that info.
