Anyone else have a problem with getting tons of spam in their gmail account? I started a gmail account because i heard that it really keeps the spam out and a few weeks later I started receiving spam( i didn't sign up for any websites). Is this just bad luck or bad filters?

My primary email is gmail. Initially i get tons of spam - like 200 - 500 spams daily. Then i started building the filters. It's been a year now - and all those spam gradually disappearing. of course there would be one or two that didn't get filtered.

Overall gmail - has been very satisfying experience compare to Yahoo / Hotmail and other email services :D

I switched to gmail (from yahoo) because of the amount of spam I was getting and while I still get some spam, gmail deals with it well and almost none of it appears in my inbox.

I made a new Gmail account from past few months as the spam is almost not so controllable. Filter really helped back then but those spammers are really growing and improving. But with this new account, I make sure I'm not submitting or posting my email just anywhere else, up to now the bulk mail is not showing in this new account. The same to you guys, watch out where you put your email addresses.

I get about 100 spam e-mails each day. They all go in to the spam folder, so I really don't have to care about 'em.

GMail is by far the best e-mail provider. If you use hotmail, yahoo or any other service - spam is something that is a part of your internet life. With GMail, you can use filters to block the spam out. GMail for the people!

Like any email address it depend on what you sign up for and how much your email address is out there. You should obviously use a specific mail address for things you know you are going to get hit with spam. Another for personal or family type only, don't use personal for signing up for crap. I still like pop3 email from my isp provider. I get almost 0 spam using and email from them. I do not use it to sign up for crap either. I use hotmail, yahoo, and gmail for that since they usually get crap anyway.

You need to click "report spam button" to report it to Google.
