Gmail and links inside mails

    anyone knows if google somehow take in account links in mails ( gmail ) when it ranks websites ?

    I don't think that SERPs are affected by the links inside the mails. I would also like to hear some expert comments on this.

    They read everything else, including mail, for ad placement. It would make sense, in a way, that they would at least look at it for other things. Bulk mailings would be easy enough to sort out & filter from the system, so that would be a moot point.

    I use Gmail & have my site listed in my signature there, and even without bonuses in SERPS I have gotten hits from mail accounts, so email links are certainly not a bad thing.

    Email links would count under the page rank "every link is a vote" idea, but wouldn't this be a bit scary to some email users?

    I have had this thought myself many times. If you do any email campaigns you can see in your stats where the visitors come from. I see AOL Mail and Yahoo Mail so I know they are being tracked at least by my stats program. But Spamers would win if email links were counted as good.

    I have been doing this for a while and haven’t seen any data supporting either side of this question. My guess…links in emails DO NOT help.
