I just noticed at the bottom of my account You are currently using 60 MB (3%) of your 2082 MB. When did this happen?
Notice it is still going up.....2082MB right now and steadily rising by the second To watch it rise go to your Gmail and 'Logout' You will get the default Gmail login page which indicates the realtime growth of the Gmail accounts storage size. Interesting way of presenting don't you think
It still shows and is indeed still growing. gMail had announced that that that counter will grow to infinity (part of their new marketing) What it basically means is that it will always be growing. The rate at which it grew to 2GB was only a couple of days then they slowed it considerably. You will notice slightly more every day though.
I hope Google knows what they're doing. I'd rather have more speed and better spam blocking than more space. I don't know what I'd store on Gmail unless it was warez or mp3s and they have good algorithms to find that stuff. IMHO, 2GBs is useless if attachments are going to be limited to 10MB.
Has anyone found out what happens if you max out a gmail account? You could set up 2 Gmail accounts that are set to forward each to the other. Then insert one piece of mail. They should bounce it back and forth until full. I haven't had the nerve to try this in case it has repercussions for my "real" gmail account, but there doesn't seem to be anything n the terms of service that would suggest that. Has this been done before?
Now that's funny! I only wish I had enough time in the day to come up with creative things like that. Go for it.
I guess I can use the excuse that I was doing it to help them with their Beta testing. I'll do it later and tell you guys the results.
The idea was to see what happens when you max out a GMail account - not to see what happens when you p*** off Google . Passing off a 50 account experiment as "helping out with your Beta testing" could be a little tricky....
Oh yeah, you'll need to diagram things very carefully. I was thinking more along the lines of taking one 9-10 MB file and forwarding all mail from one account to another to another, etc, basically creating a giant loop and seeing how things go. They call things like this stress tests. I'm sure Google wouldn't mind such an event
Oh, I see what you mean. I can't be bothered to set up 50, but maybe three or four would be worth a go. It may be that it automaticallyblocks items from being forwarded from one account and then back again.
