I have a forum located at: http://forums.inspireline.net and I am in desperate need of Global moderators. We are struggling to get the forum going and we get +/- 10 spam posts each week. Although we have room for experienced and non-experienced moderators, we will need one or two moderators who know how to use the IPB 1.3 MCP, and who have a bit of experience in being a moderator. We need experienced moderators who will be willing to train the non-experienced moderators. Right now we only have 2 Administrators who need to take care of everything on the forum and it’s getting a bit hectic. How this will work: Everyone who applies will be put under “Moderators in training†until they reached 10 posts. After that the Experienced moderators (who were in the “Moderators in training†group) will be put under “Global Moderatorsâ€. Then they’ll start to train some of the moderators in the “Moderators in training†group. When the Experienced moderators who trained the “Moderator in training†feel that he/she is ready to be moved to the “Global Moderators†group, the administrators will move him/her to the “Global Moderators†group after revision. We will be opening a club and magazine soon. Our staff members will receive discount on club items, and magazine subscriptions. The Head-Admin is currently in contact with some of the celebrities (who have fanforums on our forum) and the possibility is there that our moderators will maybe receive signed photos etc. in the future. But, until then this is a volunteer position. PM me if you are interested. Regards Deidre
If you feel the need to point out the fact that you are receiving 10 spam posts per week in your second sentence then you must realize that there is something completely wrong. I checked your forum and I see that you have 4 staff members and a total of 400 posts. Some of the posts that I saw were made about one year ago, so there's not such a terrible amount of traffic that a single dedicated person wouldn't be able to handle this load. Certainly nothing that would cause 2 administrators to have stress. So if things are indeed "hectic" then those staff members are simply in the wrong position. What I also saw is that you don't have an actual website, just the forum. Starting a forum is a very tedious task and it gets a lot more difficult if you try to start a forum without a website to accompany it. If you are really serious about making the forum a success then what you should do is either a) Close the forum and start a website first. Grow it and once you have a small community start the forum again. That will make the start a lot easier and less frustrating. or b) Throw the staff members out that are inactive. If it took you about a year to reach 400 posts with 4 staff members, then that's just horrible. A single dedicated person can reach that amount of posts within 2 weeks with ease. Once you have done that you start posting yourself. Register multiple times and post, post, post until your fingers bleed. Then, when the forum looks somewhat active, you start promoting it. Tell other people about it and keep posting until the forum sustains itself without your help. If you don't want to do this alone find someone you trust and you know wants to help you with the site. But don't go around adding moderators without end and think "Should this person be a global moderator or a super moderator or just a normal moderator or maybe just a moderator in training? Maybe he should be an admin or a head admin or a super duper uber admin?" You are thinking way too big when your primary concern should be to get the forum active. Trying to find someone here who is truly passionate about your forum's topic and wants to do the job for free is wasted time. That's a shot of 1 in a million, trying to find someone who not only wants to help but who also wants to stay active in one week or one month. You HAVE to change your approach, otherwise you'll just keep getting more and more frustrated until you give up in the end. Sorry for a little bit of offtopic, but this kind of advice will help you a lot more than someone who may quit your forum after a few days out of boredom or frustration.
KingsofKings I’m actually just looking for Global Moderators, but if you have something to offer, please feel free to PM me. _______ Icheb I don’t think you should say stuff like that without checking your facts: You probably saw that there are different celebrity forums on the forum. This forum used to be a fan forum for one of the fansites we own. It was hosted with invisionplus.net (a free hosting company). We just finished moving it to a new (paid) host and a domain name. What I meant by hectic was that our hands is so full with all the new changes. We had to move every single post on the forum into it’s appropriate place, we needed to get a new skin, open the new staff groups etc, etc,.…. All while we are managing all our fansites. This forum is one big forum wich is linked from all our fansites. The website itself will only be a page that contains links to our fansites. The fact that most of the posts were made moths ago was because it was on our old forum. We couldn’t just scratch everything and start new, because we’re still on more or less the same topic. It only makes sense that we use the same database. It takes a lot of time and energy to start a new forum with an old database. All this work can only be done by administrators. Wich is why we need global moderators wich can help us a bit. The last thing we as Admins need is the pressure of deleting spam (spam that contains adult content I might add). It might not look like it but there are still loads of behind the scenes work. We don’t have time for spam right now! We are 2 staff members (admins), the other are Helper team members (they only help with the fansites). You don’t have to…. But, I believe I’m on the right track here.
Still, my advice stands. It can't be that active that a dedicated person can't handle the load. Trying to find a moderator here that is really passionate about your forum's topic and wants to do the job for free is too much of a long shot. And how do you know you can trust them? If you feel so overwhelmed by those 1 to 2 spam posts per day that you have to specifically point it out here then you have to realize that something is not quite right. In my opinion you should grow the forum yourself and then recruit moderators out of your user base. That way you can get to know them over a long period of time and have a feeling if you can trust them. I'm simply trying to help. If you don't like it, whatever.
I get around 10 SPAM and some xxx posts daily and I still keep everything clean. And I have set permission for guests to make threads and posts on a few Categories. You have no need to have staff at the moment. Or choose 1 staff who can manage everything. I can do it if you can advertise my website, as I am busy doing it. And That's what I am needing at the moment. Or just let me a PM, sometimes, I'll train some noobs and make them Moderators for free. But giving me a small ad will be greatly appreciated. I am a forum administrator And if your forum is active, I will moderate, but I will be needing 1 person who can understand English so I can leave the forum after he is ready.
Icheb is right. You really only need 1 person for a forum of your size. I too get many unwanted spam on my forum but I'm able to deal with it easily myself within a couple of minutes. Sometimes I can get up to 10 spam posts in just one day on the forum, but I'm still able to control it with ease myself within 5-10 minutes. A forum of your size doesn't need 2 administrators, only 1.
