Being a web developer is difficult at some points when we have a plenty of customers... so at this time i am trying to receive more traffic from search engine rather then postings ads on craigslist or other classifieds. what i am thinking of here is that; to receive more traffic i should start selling out templates, php scripts and other things related to web development for free in order to receive more traffic. does anyone think this might be a good options?? Thanks!
People like free stuff, just make sure that people no how to find your website or where ever again afterwords.

Short and quick answer would be yes. At least if you are relegated to getting work on DP. This place is full of budget-less dimwits. Sometimes you have to fire off proper work to get anyone's attention. Its the nature of the beast around here You will want to farm out free things on your own site and get folks to link to them. I LOL'ed. So very true, so very true... Anyways, to the OP, free stuff will get you traffic. And if what you give away doesn't suck, it will lead to more sales as well (look up the sales concept of "the small yes"). If what you're giving away is very cool.... it might make sense to sit it behind a squeeze page and building a list.
yeah i got it! i am willing to give around 50 scripts for free and then one paid templates after that for $10
some of them are copyrighted to their owners. If i deliver them along with the author info... i think it will be ok then.
