Giving .infos away for free- Good idea or Bad

well if i have a bit of cash i was thinking of offering people who cant afford or cant buy a domain name the chance to get a .info for free from me. In exchange for putting my ads on what ever site they use it for but they can use some of there ads aswell

Then if they want the domain once it become popular they can buy it from me for 1.5 X What i paid for it.

I would only do this for people who i think have potentional tho

I will always have the domain and just point it to there nameservers

Do you reckon this would be profitable or not

Bad idea w/ the ads. If the website owner frauds clicks on your ads....

EDIT: Actually good idea... its what free webhosts do.

 

If someone can't afford a .info domain name they can't afford hosting - hence no nameservers to point to.

You would be better offering the complete package - domain name and hosting - though it's an incredibly competitive market.

 

I think it's a good idea and there's tons of free hosting available for them

 

yap there is tons of free hosting services plus some one could have thousands of dollars and just have it tied up or something just because they can't afford domain name does not mean they do not have money...I have been in this situation many times.....I also think that you should include a ebook teaching the people the basics and make them read it before they get there domain.
