Giving free ad-space for one month. Will that work??

I have very recently posted in my blog that every visitor who joins my facebook page and my Google friend's connect page will get a free ad-space for one month in my site. The dimension of the ad is 550px X 220px.

The members ad will be displayed in on my pages. The listing will be present for one month and later will be removed. What do you think guys, is this a good way of establishing good contact with the fellow bloggers ?

Or do you consider this a mistake ? Please share your suggestions. The url is http://www.bytechip.com/2009/11/get-your-site-advertised/

I'm an advertiser, and I can tell you that is common practice.

It always has been, it always will be.

    Go ahead and do it.

Sounds like a great idea. I might actually try this myself. :)
