Affiliate programs are a great way to generate revenue with your website or blog. I would suggest joining Commission Junction and Linkshare, applying to a couple hundred programs and start adding their banners to your site or blog to match the content you are posting/writing about. You can build a niche blog or site to promote a specific advertiser or products or you can use one main site to advertiser merchant's coupons. Here is an example of an excellent coupon site: www.couponcraze.com. I know this affiliate personally and I know that they do very well with affiliate marketing through a site of this type. Coupon sites tend to take a lot of upkeep but can definitely pay off in the long-run due to the fact that so many consumers search online for coupons. It about promoting other people's products. You earn commission based on the type of the affiliate programs. It could be pay-per-click, pay-per-lead, pay-per-action or pay-per-sale. Most of affiliate programs is free. Although it is free you must carefully select which program to promote. There are affiliate programs who are taking advantage of people to be their army of free advertising.
