If you are having some money I will advise you to go learn some skills via seminar, like how to build and sell a website skill. It will keep you busy again with lots of ideas
I`d re-invest that to other things then website creation. But, if you need ideas, following bigger players in any market, and see what they do to make that money. You can buy an app, thats already built, and build a website around it.
No matter what you choose you will needs years of experience just to break even on an investment. But I would recommend something with value such as a website, smartphone app rather than Forex or Stock positions as those will be better choices for most.
I'd use $500 to get a good CPA coach like Williams from the Warrior Forum (the guy is very good with CPA and is a partner of Kenster) and spend the rest doing what I've been taught by him. A good coach is the best investment you can get. But beware as others who call themselves "coaches" (like a filthy scammer I had the bad luck of meeting in the same forum with a name that starts with S) will only try to partake you from your money.

why not brainstorm areas in your life that you have issues with. For example, if you wanted to build your own house, be a better parent, have whiter teeth, fix your back and so on, it could lead you to a niche.
$5k amount I will suggest you to try setup Online shopping store. I think you know ways to get traffic for your online shopping store. As free traffic from search engines, referral sites, Blogs, communities traffic, Social media traffic. And paid traffic via Adword, Microsoft adcenter, Facebook PPC etc. Promoting your own business will be best for you.
The only problem I see to that, is the cost of "products" and time of "selling all products", plus other misc fees such as shipping. So the question, would be is it worth it for the turnover?

You could built a payment processor or module that allows sellers to receive payments directly into their merchant bank account or via mobile money POS gateway for developing countries.
I'm doing affiliate marketing using YouTube videos and it has been going pretty well for just starting.
I think it would cost more then $5,000. Maybe, initial concept would be $5,000, but what about everything else that you need to make it successful?
Definitely it will cost more than $5000. The initial design concept and whole ideal plus marketing would exceed $5K. You would have to obtain Federal Regulation Board and partnering bank approval. I'm thinking of ideal similar to how Google Wallet works but funds are directly deposited into your Merchant bank account vises a personal bank account to bypass Paypal's 21-day holding limit or transaction fee charges. You'd still be charged a fee by Paypal if your customer pays for goods or services using Paypal or other POS payment gateway but it would eliminate the step of requesting a Paypal withdrawal to local or U.S. merchant bank account or credit card.
