What do you belive is better, post you're thought's. my opinion would have to be photoshop because it has more tools ect then gimp
Are you kidding? Are you actually comparing a simple application like Gimp with the image editing master - Photoshop? Gimp is only a child in front of Photoshop
Harmful joke buddy. Gimp is where Photo touching starts, PHOTOSHOP is where it touches its current height. Photoshop is god of its field.
If you are talking about the capabilities of course it would be photoshop, but Gimp is free so some people will lean on gimp.
Photoshop is difficult to learn with all the complex features and tools and spendy. Gimp does a decent job and is much easier to use and learn for the beginner or novice and free. If I was a pro graphic artist and the money to burn then photoshop would be great. If I was not so good with learning complicated new graphic design and editing, or I didn't have the money to burn then gimp works well.
GIMP is a million miles ahead when it comes to value for money. It all depends on what you're doing, and who you're doing it for. If you're only making graphics for yourself and your own sites, then you can easily get away with using GIMP/Inkscape. But it's an unfortunate fact that the real (corporate) world uses Photoshop, and they expect you to use it too. Photoshop is a VERY mature application. Most of the features that they're adding to new versions are bordering on useless when it comes to actually "getting stuff done". I'm happily using CS3, but could comfortable use v7 (from 2002) if I had to... the healing brush is pretty much the only useful thing (for me) that Adobe have added in the last 10 years that I really 'need'. ***** Photoshop is like making dinner in your own kitchen. Everything is where is should be, you don't need to think too hard... it "just works". GIMP is like making dinner when you're camping, it's fun for the first night, but not much fun when you're tired, wet, and hungry and just want to make something to eat.
Actually, I find the gimp difficulty to use. I would play with it for hours and couldn't do half the things I did with Photoshop during the same time. That's just my opinion though, but I have seen outstanding work done in gimp. So, if you have the money, just buy photoshop, if not then use the gimp.
Depends what you're doing. In Web design you pretty much only need the basic tools, but as a photographer the new auto-align/auto-blend layers and stuff they're adding with content recognition makes some tasks A LOT easier... and I know architecture/CAD design people who love the new features with importing 3D models. Another good feature of Photoshop is its seamless integration with the rest of the CS4 suite, InDesign, Illustrator, etc which are fairly requisite in any design setting. But for an average user making simple graphics there's nothing wrong with GIMP. (and it's open source!)
Photoshop has excelled in its industry for decades, I don't see gimp being able to provide the same industry standard as photoshop does.
hey, why cs4? you simply can take ph 10 and do all you want to do. we say `take instruments or another way instruments will take you`. I cant translate it from russian well, but i think you've got the idea Use anything you like, its Your hands not a software
