OK, I am using gimp and I am trying to change the color on one of my layers. I chose bucket fill but for some reason it does not change it to the exact color that I want but a mixture of the color I chose with colors that are adjacent to the selection.

How do I set it so it only fills with the color I choose?

Do you have a gradient selected?

Take it off gradient and drag the solid color over from the color tray directly to the layer.

I had the same issue, but found that I was in the indexed mode... menu is, 'Image -> mode ->'. Once I changed it to RGB I could fill with the color I wanted. Still saved the file as GIF and indexed.

OK, while it is normally the image>>mode when it comes to colors not matching. It sounds like it is the point-sample of your eyedropper tool.

I normally use PS... Hopefully, if there is a way to adjust the sample size (say from 3x3px. to 1px.) you will be able to get a more precise sample. If there is not a way to do that, you may just want to copy the Hex values directly in to your R, G and B values.

Hex values are 6 digits. For colors, the first 2 are red, second 2 are green and last two are blue. 0, is the darkest possible value and f is the lightest. Have fun, hope this helps!

    Changing colour mode will work.
