Getting your Press Release on Google News - How?

I am looking at press releases to get current news out about a site I own, first question are there are good FREE PR directories, if so which ones? And secondly, how do you get your article on to Google News?

Any ideas from people who have done much appreciated :)

Just submit press releases to reputable PR sites and optimize the press release for a specific keyowrd: put it at the beginning of the title tag and <h1> heading of your text, put the keyword in bold. For example, if you are optimizing for "blue widgets," you can do:

Blue Widgets from ThisSuperCompany go viral all over the Internet!

Blue Widgets are hot today and everyone knows it, but ThisSuperCompany took the whole idea to the next level by releasing.... blah blah blah

When you search for the targeted keyword ("blue widgets"), Google should display you under News automatically, but only for a few days (after that your PRs remain in the organic results, but they won't be displayed as News indefinitely).

Why submit press releases to get into Google News when you can easily be approved as a Google News source site yourself?

Can I ask what are some of the freely available online press releases? Are they like PRWeb etc? Most of the PR companies i find online needs to make payment though...

There are certainly sites that go over the Google guidelines, but they leave a lot out and more often than not the submitter is turned down. In addition, our guide teaches things that you won't find anywhere else... i.e. what layouts to use, how to monetize traffic from Google News, etc. It is a step by step guide that takes you from no website to a Google News source site in just days. We have sold hundreds of copies and not a single complaint. On the contrary, our reviews are outstanding. You can read them at various forums including this one.

This is fair enough, I apologize for being too quick with the word "scam" without reading your guide. Certainly helpful literature about Google's free services such as AdWords and AdSense (for example) isn't a scam.

The guide does not tell you how to get a press release published to Google News, it gives a step by step blueprint on how to create a site that becomes a Google News Publisher Source. That means that all of your articles on your site will be added to Google News. This drives traffic direct to your site, rather than somebody else's site that you post a press release on.

We are talking about two different things. You are talking about Google SERPS, I was talking about Google News. This thread is also about Google News.
