Does anyone know how long it takes to get your website listed in Google, Yahoo and MSN, and if so is there a way of speeding up this process?

It depends, it can take a few days, a few weeks, a few months or it will never make it. I have never manually submitted to Google or any other engine.I got indexed quickly by building a Squidoo lens and linking from it to my blog.It took 2 days to get indexed.

You can get your site indexed in Google pretty quickly, in 1-2 days. Just put a link to your site to your DP signature and submit your site to Digg. Get a backlink from a strong website and you should appear in Google soon.

However, getting "listed" for a certain keyword might not be so easy. This will depend on the keyword's competition and your backlinks.

Yeah, getting your site Indexed from search engines take 1 day at least.
social bookmarking, yahoo answer, could make it even lesser.

Basically you just need some decent links pointing to your site from pages that are already indexed or being crawled by the engines.

The one thing I would advise you not to do is use software or pay someone to "submit" your site to search engines. You'll regret every single spam mail you'll get afterwards.

Theres some great advice already in thread, best of luck!

I've had the best results with Feedage.com. and Feedest.com.

Submit RSS feed to both those, and then find a couple free blogs to post on, and within a day, two tops your site should be in there.

If a Squidoo lens, usually quicker than that.

Free Advertising blogs that have a PageRank of 3 or higher are crawled by Google on a regular basis, therefore your link gets found quick. Add in the RSS, and Google will find it quick enough.

You need a good linking and marketing strategy if you want to get indexed quickly. Google wants to know that your website is popular and relevant to what the public wants to know when they submit their quieries. If you have links from websites that deal with the same industry, then you will appear in the SERPs in no time.

I have seen 24 hours to 24 months.... depends on a list of reasons... How relevant the content is, how often a site is updated, how well the code is developed, how many links back, etc...

We were able to get a client's political blog listed against his competitor within 48 hours on Google and Yahoo.

fgastest way is getting th in bound links to go to it like the above posters have said so always take things into your own hands and do something instead of waiting for something else to get your campaign going

    1. Generate and submit Sitemap to Google, Yahoo & MSN. Update it regularly.
    2. Pingoat
    3. Socialmarker - make sure you research your tags

1 and 2 can be automated with plugins if you use WordPress.
