Getting Visitors is like an Uphill Battle!

I have a lot of respect for Webmasters.

It is quite a difficult battle to get your site noticed.

Years ago as a teen I designed websites (paticuarly on favorite bands) and they easily skyrocketed. It was weird because I don't remember it being that difficult to get great rankings and a lot of visitors. Maybe it was because I saw certain trends before everyone else did.

Anyway, I have several fairly new websites that I've been working my ass on. I've done everything that is supposed to done -- search engine submissions, article writing, directory adding, backlinking, link exchanges, and most importantly, adding new content. (I currently have 4 sites...and am only making $1.50 a day). The sad part is that I've been making $0 for the past week.

I just want to know how long it took you all to see the light a little bit. haha. How long did it take for your ranks to start moving up and for you to find secret ways to make people head on over to your .com?

    Thanks :)

It's been 5 months for me and I'm still battling. Things are looking up though. I'm getting a trickle of visitors from the SE's

It may be to do with the subject-matter. Teenagers tend to surf without spending, and to spend less, so there is possibly less competition for their eyeballs. If you want to actually attract spending visitors, you will have more of a battle on your hands.

A few years ago making a website was considered geeky, but now far more people are able to do it. So it could just be that the niche you have chosen is too crowded.
