How can you get your new site into Google fast?

When you create a new website for your home business, that's exactly what you want, right? For the search engines to find it... fast.

Fact: Google prefers for their spiders (a spider is a computer robot that wanders the internet) to find new sites rather than have website owners use the ‘submit a site' page.

So the easiest way to get your new site found is to make sure it is listed in one of the sites that Google visits often. My own site at eprofitnews.com/blog has about 5 visits by Google spiders every hour. Spiders from the other search engines visit less frequently but that's still many times each day.

So how can you get your site listed at one of these popular sites?

There are at least two ways:

1. Post a free classified ad at one of the popular ad sites.

2. Create a blog at blogger.com and link it to your new website.

Let's talk about the first one in this article.

When it comes to free classified ad sites, the leader of the pack is Craigslist. This site apparently gets more traffic than Google Canada. So place an ad there (especially in the section for the San Francisco Bay area) and it will be picked up quickly. And it's free.

Not sure which category for your ad? Go to the Small Biz section. Write a factual ad rather than a salesy, hypey one because your goal is to get your site indexed by the search engines rather than make a sale. A hyped up advertisement may get deleted by the moderators at Craigslist.

Other than name of image and alt tag, relevant text around your images also matters.

 

Image name and alt text isn't everything. My best image traffic goes to a pic labeled something like 388853.jpg. It was simply an automated id that went on a poll. That pic gets as much as 1,000 hits a day, and since it's loaded with a poll, it actually gets some votes/visitor participation.

I never saw much value in chasing image traffic though. Not great for converting visitors.
