Getting traffic

I've just launched a site which will obviously get no traffic. Any of of the big boys out there wanna share some secrets in driving traffic to a new site?

The sandbox will hold me - but can this be overcome?

I once tried a popunder advertising scheme - but the conversion rate was pathetic.

Search these forums. This question has been asked a million times and the answers usually are :
    - get relevant backlinks
    - submit to directories
    - seo your site for SE traffic
    - write articles
    - use advertizing (PPC , banners, etc)
    - ....

Its in my signature - I thought that might help a bit.

But it wont do anything major I guess.
I'd like some heavy uniques coming through and not sure how to go about it.

For backlinks I need link partners in the same genre (seems this would be difficult to find) and the content will be user submitted which also kinda makes it "catch 22".

But I do appreciate the help - and am off to find some directories!

    Thanks.

Your site would do well by networking with college humour sites and alike. Start by dumping your link at bleacheatingfreaks.com and follow their formula of traffic swap for great results.

You could submit it to the Entertainment section of Shoutwire and then tell us your profile link in that thread. That should help a little...

If you set ads to contextual on a URL like hornygoat and add no content - I'd shudder to see just what might appear

Nothing better than a few high paying "goat viagra" clickthroughs. Heard through the grapevine that "goat viagra" will be the next mesoliamia.

(or however the hell you spell it - feel sorry for the dyslexics affected by that damned disease - there's absolutely no way in hell they're filling out any health insurance claim form without hassles).

    :)
