I have a new website selling products and want to set up a fan / group page related to it, but want it totally seperate from my own Facebook personal page.
Whats the best way to do it?
And the most important question is how do you let people know about it if you dont have an email or similar list of potential customers?

If you set up a group - You can create a more central hub for your FB presence

But if you set up a page people can "Like" it - Ive found this is much more eye catching as it can appear on peoples news feeds and in the ad space on the right.

Id probably say have both - linking one another back and forth. The fan page could have a title thats more inviting to get people to "Like it" - more of a statement that could interest people. Whereas the group could be a bit more serious and have more information included perhaps. Almost as if the fan page was a attention catcher feeding those people into your group, then potentially to your site (or what ever the purpose is)

First if you dont wanna connect it to your personal profile, I would suggest you to go for a new account completely.
This way, you can target only the friends and the fan members of your niche.

Facebook has the steps you can take to set up a separate page for a business/charity/organization in their "Help" section.

As for getting traffic - that's the million dallar question. Is the objective of the Facebook page to actually sell the product - or is to generate exposure and link to another website where the actual sale is made? Based on your post, it sounds like you want it to send people to a website for the actual sale.

Here are some basics - there are many more tools and tactics to get traffic, but it all starts with keywords.

Have you done your Keyword Analysis? Do you know the keywords that get the most searches and have the highest OCI (Online Commercial Intent) OCI is a statistic that measures what the commercial intent of the person using that exact keywrod phrase. Some keyword searches are used more for getting information, some are used more for people who are ready to buy something. The higher the OCI, the more likely they will buy.

Once you have your Keywords, you optimize your website with those keywords. Don't use all the keywords on one page. Don't use the keyword more than a few times in the text on the page. Do use the Keywords in the coding for the page that Google sees. Things like the Title tag, H1 tag, the filenames for the images of the page should be the keyword you are optimizing for that particular page, the "ALT " tag for the image should also have the keyword. These are the basics - there's plenty more on website optimzation.

Use Twitter to drive traffic to the website and the Facebook page. Run a contest on the Facebook page (read Facebook rules on contests and follow them) Then tweet about the contest (using the keywords). Contests tend to result in a lot of pople re-tweeting the link to the contest to their friends. That drives traffic.

This is just a teeny-tiny start on ways to drive traffic. There are paid ways and free ways to generate traffic. They all take some work and all should start with your keywords so that people searching on the internet find content pointing to your sites.

    hello,

I would suggest you to add your existing customer in your facebook account so your customers friend will come to know about your website through them and they will also visit your site so like this you can generate Sales as well as Traffic for your site.
