I want to use facebook to drive traffic to my site. Not sure how to do this. Do I use my personal facebook account? Can you please share some of your techniques.

I wouldn't use my personal account. Worst case scenario it could get banned. I'd create a new account and start to get some targeted friends. Build a group and spread it around. As it grows you'll have a targeted audience to advertise your site.

I would make sure that you actually use Facebook the right way before spamming your affiliate links everywhere.
Interact with your friends, be social, etc.. Because the more you keep posting messages like "learn how to lose weight fast"
The more you'll come off as a spammer, and risk your account being banned.

Create your Fan page, and invite your friends to join it .... Or ask them to invite their friends to it .... Just don't use your a/c directly to promote ... use a fan page or group

The best way of promoting a business on Facebook is to create an effective Facebook Business Page.
This is sometimes also called a Facebook Fan Page. It is actually forbidden to use your personal account
for business purposes. Dress up your Facebook Page with good information and tips which would interest your
client base. Use lots of images and videos to make your page more interesting. Once you have made your page
looking reasonably busy invite all your friends to support you by becoming a fan. Once you have secured some fans
you can go and advertise your page on Facebook to get even more fans.

Creat a fan page for the business and invite people to join it.
If your site is ecommerce, you could send out an invoice or email with an invitation link to join the fan page.
You could promote the site through facebook, offer discounts etc. or other incentives for people to become a fan.
Slowly you should see a growth in people becoming a fan.

I wouldn't use your personally account unless you just insert a link under profile picture. I would create a fan page and seek out targeted people to sign up.. look for people in similar groups that share similar interests.

I definitely would not recommend using your personal profile to promote your website (besides sharing the occasional link with your friends). Instead, create a Facebook page for your website. If you're unsure whether or not to create a Facebook fan page or a Facebook group, check out this article: http://ustandout.com/facebook/facebook-pages-vs-groups. Hope this helps!

ditto to the rest - don't use your personal profile for promoting anything unless of course it involves you at a personal level!

In addition to what the others have said, FB fan pages provide you with decent stats on your page activity and you can customise them which will aid your marketing campaign.

Yes by the help of creating fan page you can drive traffic to your site. You can update your page on daily basis with website pages, updates and blogs or articles.
