Well, I've been an AdSense fan for the past 6 years now, and whilst I earn a decent amount from it, I just cant ignore the potential I see in affiliate marketing any longer; plus, I want to try something new. So, I run a few websites already; one is web-master related which gets around 1,600 unique's per day, I run a local news site for my city, and I have a few niche sites for tailored for Amazon Associates of which are not doing great the moment though I get 2-3 sales a week from each. To make an informed decision on which products to promote is tricky at the best of times so I'm wondering what pointers I should be taking into account. Gravity, from what I understand usually peaks and drops off over time, so picking the most popular product at the time isn't always the best way to go; at least if you're looking for a sustainable income? Secondly, product launches; I presume email marketing suits this best, do you guys use give-aways to build up fruitful email lists or other methods to then market to every quarter perhaps? Finally, do you find the more technical the nature of the product you're trying to promote, the harder it is to convert? I ask this, because with my web-master related sites, AdSense performs poorly, though with other niches (such as my city's news site) it does really well (most likely due to their technical nature/ad blindness). Am I better off focussing on a niche to target, lets say, the more gullible audiences? Suggestions, pointers and help are all much appreciated.
Gravity is important but can be misleading. A lot of people end up buying from their own aff link and that bumps up the gravity (more prevelant for internet marketing products). Product launches are great to promote! Give-aways are a great way to entice people to buy through your link. Something that compliments the product is a great route to go. Something as simple as a camtasia screen recording on "how to use..." could work. IMO, the technical stuff is probably easier to sell. Especially if it's something that solves someone's problem.....software that automates things or makes things easier is a hot seller. Check out cb-analytics.com and see what's hot.
To focus on a particular niche is better. On that way you will be well learned about the product you promote. Email marketing works great for product launches. Wish you Good Luck.
email marketing is really good for product lunching. i have seen people to become success at their affiliate marketing just by email marketing. Gravity can also give you success. but i am not experienced about them!
