Well, I am an Affiliate on Clickbank and thinking of promoting a product. I need people opinions. Lets say I have a good domain and I cloak my affiliate link will it be better then building a landing page that links to my affiliate link? Will I get punished on the search engines? I mean I will have only one link in the search engines. I see people build like mini blogs but I dont have time to update it constantly. Second question is lets say I do cloak my affiliate links is it reasonable to advertise around the internet craigslist/Google Adsense or pay some here on DP to advertise or maybe write some articles for me. Lets say I do get many backlinks will it be rated high in google even if its cloaked? Any tips would be appreciated Thanks
Since you are starting out I would say jump straight onto article marketing. And no you wouldn't get punished...Just put a no follow tag on them.
I think it is better to start getting some backlinks for your site first. But slowly, because your site is new.
I agree with taking it slow. One way would be to use article marketing but in a way where you can control the incoming links to your money site. 1) Build web 2.0 properties around the relevant keywords you want to rank for then have those sites link back to your money site. Make sure you write the content in a problem/solution format 2) Create a quality article and then join a service like uniquearticlewizard. Follow the process they describe and then make sure you choose enough relevant tags for your article. Let them distribute a unique version of your article to over 1,000 article directories (i.e. for most subjects) in about a month. Make sure the keyword relevant backlinks from your resource boxes are linking to your web 2.0 propeties you created in 1) 3) Rinse/repeat You wil be increasing your exposure on the web and controlling the linking to your money site at the same time. Let me know how it goes.
For the web 2.0 properties use at least four of the following: squidoo,hubpages,wetpaint,blogger and wordpress.
Also after you have linked each of the following to your money site. Create an account at delicious. boomark your web 2.0 properties. Bookmark your money site. Assuming you have an rss feed for your money site then ping the web 2.0 properties and supply their rss feeds. Do the same for your money site.
Of course I am making the HUGE assumption that you have done relevant keyword research at the beginning. if you didn't this will not be that effective for traffic generation. Still will work for link juice though

PotPieGirl's One Week Marketing plan is extremely helpful for anyone wanting to make regular ClickBank sales. It varies from product to product. The percentage of the purchase price that you receive as a seller of a product that you didn't create can be as high as 75%. While that is at the high end, there are plenty of products for which you receive 50% or more.

I recommend you spend some time and find/purchase a premium domain and then redirect that to your affiliate link. Then slowly move to a landing page, and then start experimenting with multiple landing pages.
