I was reading up on mercury (one of the most lethal chemicals to man) and how it keeps getting in the oceans (and into the fish we eat), our aquifers (and thus drinking water), and all sorts of other ways it is majorly threatening us. Heck, at this rate, because most people don't properly dispose of their florescent lights, much of humanity will die out from the massive mercury poisoning to come (when that stuff seeps through into the aquifers). So basically we're all gonna die because people switched to "energy efficient" fluorescents. My main question is, how can we get rid of mercury from the planet? Is there a way to convert the stuff into some non-lethal chemical? I mean, now we got Jeremy Piven with mercury poisoning just from eating sushi? Also, is mercury made naturally? I know this is a weird topic, I just want to know from anyone with a bit of a science bent, if it's possible to remove/convert the chemical wholesale out of existence from the planet (other than by launching it all into space, which isn't a half bad idea if it's unconvertable and not a naturally renewing chemical).
I've got no idea how we can get rid of it. There is even a big problem how to get this out of our bodies once it accumulate there! That's the main reason I eat tuna and other big fish so rarely. D*mn! I rly luv tuna!
