the key is not trying to get rid of anger or any other emotion, but to look at it in an impartial manner like an observer,then the intensity of the emotion decreases
I have an anger issue before. But I got over it. It took awhile for me to know how to control it. What I did was I dealt with it. I knew that it was eating me alive. It was destroying my relationship with my family and friends. So, I cannot proceed with life with this anger in me. I looked upon the danger that its causing me and to other people. It took a lot of perseverance and self-control but I eventually did it.
There are many ways to control anger so that you don't become angry in the first place, but even the calmest of us lose our patience sometimes. Try to consider these steps: 1. Calm down. 2. Avoid the temptation to vent. 3. Lighten up. 4. Visualize something funny you are angry at. 5. Do a comical impression of yourself when you get angry. 6. Do something that makes it impossible to take yourself seriously. 7. Redirect the angry energy. 8. Work it out.
Anger is a choice, choose to relate differently to the world around you. I think Aristotle said it well: Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. - -- Aristotle It will take work, but you must choose to change then practice it and make it into a habit.
