Getting rid of anger. How?

I met a few people lately who got rid of their anger and found inner peace in their lives by forgiving. The crazy turmoil stopped. The outlook on life has completely changed. The invisible sign on their forehead "VICTIM" is gone - they can see through abusers and therefore no longer allow them to continue taking advantage of them. Amazing change!
Has that happened to you? How did you change your life around to become peaceful and someone that living with is a joy?

This has not happened to me because I think that its not really right to forgive people who are unwilling to balance the act of wrong.

If you think about it Forgivness is kind of a bad concept.
    1. Someone does an intentional wrong in order to either badly affect anothers' life(or better theirs)
    2. The person on the other side takes the change of life that they got handed by the attacker.
    3. The person who suffers the loss for the rest of their life Forgives.
    4. The person who did wrong runs off clean and clear with the advantage that they took at the expense of the other person.

Basically, the concept of forgivness promotes people to take what they can ignoring any morale rules whatsoever knowing that its the "victims" fault for not forgiving...........

Personally, I prefer eye for an eye which is a fair bit more honest. Also, anger is not a disability in actions. There's are many situations where you need to be angry or you will be washed up on the shore and taken advantage of.

    1. So what if someone is pathetic enough to do an intentional wrong to better their meaningless life? Think about how much pain that person has endured to get to that point. Think about what would push you to a life of crime. Those are the people that need most mercy.
    2. Your ego, your super elevated sense of self worth, is what wants "stability." That word is foreign to most of humanity and nature, everything is changing and in flow; adapt or die. If your life changes and you can't handle it, move aside for someone strong enough to do so.
    3. That person understands.
    4. That person will have to deal with karma.

The problem is that men who should NOT be called men think themselves to be Gods and that there is some "fairness" they deserve, but will not show others. These weak excuses for masculinity hide behind the young kids in the military defending their right to be a pompous fool. Eye for an eye leaves everyone blind, be a MAN, for the love of humanity, and learn that you are nothing but dirt and your job is to prevent other people from losing their connection with God/nature/goodness, because then they'll turn to crime and make other people's lives harder because you did not help before hand.

Yes it does sound inconvenient and like a lot of work...That's because it's a lot harder to do and is the true reason holy texts exist. A man will help those who want to bite him, a coward puts up walls and organizes armies to protect him instead of venturing out into the world.

We need people who will be a standard bearer for stopping anger.

You must always defend yourself, but must only do that, defend yourself; once you put the burden on someone else, you become the attacker regardless of who started it.

Think of a fight you got in, started by someone else, where you got the upper hand and had the ability to DEVASTATE that poor soul for the rest of his life...But didn't. That's forgiveness, mercy, godliness.

We can choose to be angry and be eaten up on the inside by it ... or we get rid of it.
Looking at the victim only, the angry person, (s)he has a choice then to either be chained to the offender by anger ... or be free by letting go of the anger ... by forgiving, which does not let the offender off the hook, but the victim is free.

So the question is to remain angry or to get rid of anger. There is really only one option if we want to live. How do you get rid of anger other than by forgiving? Is there another way that you have tried and you know it works?

~ Anger is a cancer of the mind with no apparent value and curious that it even exists other than for religion to subdue it so why is it created in the first place but to ensure self preservation which must actually be an original sin or just has no way of stopping itself as a basic flaw in mans development.

    Anger is bad?

In business its the only way to control the many snakes who want to take your shirt. Anger keeps the situation under control I'd say.

I used to have a real explosive temper and stress-related problems. I took up kickboxing, and I guess it helped to an extent. It helps to relieve some energy - but stress is a product of misalignment - and therefore, I don't believe there are any physical activities that can truly free you from stress or anger. There are certainly exercises, such as Yoga, that can help to control anger.

I felt my taste of freedom from stress when I took a three month break to Thailand. I felt the essence of the Eastern way of life. I did a lot of reading on the Mayan Calendar and Spirituality.

    Here is an interesting quote:

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." - Mahatma Gandhi

Usually, breaking things is a great way to release all that angst. :) Could be costly in the long run though.

Start doing yoga to practice deep breathing and releasing tension. It'll change your life.

Whilst I think Gandhi is great, I would disagree with that quote, it's ok in principle (appears to make sense) but I would at least blind someone who shot me for example...

I found that a very interesting remark. Thanks, Love.
When you look at the main religions, which one would you describe as the "angry" one based on the headlines in politics? I order them in alphabetical order: Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Muslims? (Feel free to add to the list in case I forgot a major religion.)
    Easy to answer, isn't it?
    Forgiveness would heal the anger!

    Forgiveness?

This has nothing to do with Politics & Religion, at least, how you approached it. The title says "Getting rid of anger" and in my opinion, there are many more effective strategies to do this..

Personally, I like to do something productive like clean, or work out at the gym. When I'm VERY angry, I like to go to the shooting range with my H&K and squeeze off a few clips..always makes me feel better.

I guess you can run off some "light" anger, but not deep-seated one!

Anger is good, it helps intimidate people. Sometimes its neccesary.

To get rid of it, try boxing or kickboxing.
