Strangely, I type in www.google.com in the browser address bar and get redirected to www.bing.com Why would that be happening, (both FF and IE are doing this)?
check your hosts file. see for it's location on your computer see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file#Content_and_location then do a scan for adware, computer viruses, trojan horse software.
It looks weird since if your browser are hijacked, then you would be redirected to a malware site but not bing. So, the hosts file might be the only place. Waiting for you to share the right answer,
Probably more Microsoft dirty tricks but....... Have you seen the articles on MSN.com where, in today's case, they're asking you if you know how much actors make on certain TV shows. When you click on the actor's picture, it gives you the answer via a search on Bing. That's one way to boost their perceived market share. In radio and TV, such shenanigans are illegal but caring about legalities has never been Microsoft's strong suit.
From my experiences, this is a problem with your PC and your host file. Not a problem from Microsoft and Bing. You should get your PC scanned with Anti-malware software like Malwarebyte. I do suspicious your PC has been infiltrated by malware and the site you were being redirected to may not a Bing official site like you saw. Be careful and not enter your login detail on that page until this infection has been cured first.
The problem was fixed by itself about half an hour after I posted here. I do have an AV running but it didn't catch anything. Weird.
