I have compiled a list of things that webmasters can do to get quality links to they sites, so pay attention.

1.The first and easyest thing to do is submit your link to some directorys, the more the better, but don't overdo it. Think of the effort versus the utility. Having links in directory, as soon as you launch the site is good, because search engines like directorys, especially the seo friendly ones, and this will guaranteed a fast crawling of your site by the most important search engines.
You can find several directory lists here:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=87925

2.Participate in forums, like this one, and others like this. Always use the same username so you can make a name for yourself and get recognized. At the beginning you can post questions that you want ansers, and after you got some experience, you can help other begineers find they way. Remember to place your link in your signature!

3.If you are a directory owner or want to start a directory, you defenetely have to check out this thread:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=82603
Also, try submitting to directory lists, as they are used by many webmasters, and you will be found easily.

4.Check sites that have the same topic as you, offer to trade links with them. If they have a guestbook sign it, and place your link in the signature, if they can be reviewed somewhere do a review for them and place you link in the signature.

5.If possible give the site a testimonial for their product or service.Don't forget to include your link

    6. Another good thing you can do is write an article a week and submit it to several article directorys. Add your link in the authoe bio. You will be surprised to see where you will receive traffic from, because usually articles travel a lot. If the article is also in your field of action the better will be for you.
For a good article directory list you can use:

7.One important thing to keep in mind, always look what your exit pages are and see why that happens, and do something about it. You cand redirect them to another site of yourse, or you can redirect them to a partener's site...and he will do the same for you. Remember, if you have a costumer/guest, don't let him go unless you showed him everithing you had to offer. And if he has to go, make it that he might go where you want him to.

K,this is all for now. Hope it helps some of you. good luck with your sites.

    Nice advice.

I don't suppose you know any good directory submission services where you can pay someone or a compnay to submit your site to lots of directories for you? Because I have a few new sites I'd like to get off the ground.
