Getting People To Click ADS!!!!!(?????)

I have Google Adsense on my website, which is www.godofradio.com - (My other URLS are kramershow.com and gawncrazy.com which all point back to godofradio.com)

About a year ago, I was at Barnes & Nobles and I was reading in a book that said you wanted to have your CLICKing of ADS to PAGEVIEWS ratio at between 1.80% and 2.12%. I would love to know what he was smoking because I've never had a day anywhere CLOSE to that. Usually I'm around .12% and .20%. If I were close to 2%, I'd be making some pretty decent coin on my website.

I would never violate the TOS, but for goodness sakes, what's the best way to optimize these ads that appear? The ads are GREAT!! They're done well, they fit my target, they look awesome, but I'd love to know how to make them more effective for ME and my bank account.

I've read a lot of suggestions, but no one really seems to hit the nail on the head as far as getting people to actually click on the advertisements.

    Thanks a lot!!

    Kramer

to get people clicks ur ads is the good ethics but some people will ask their visitors to click on the ads which are not good for the internet ads industry

Well, I visited your site and all I can say is that your site is not a typical Adsense moneymaker site. You have a lot of interesting content, and site itself looks nice, and that distracts the visitors from the ads. So it is very simple, they don't click the ads because they find the site content much more interesting than the ads, they do not pay much attention to them.

On the other hand, it means that you have a good site though.

I have had a look at your site ( yes, it does have a load of content ), and I think this is really the problem - the ads don't catch the eye as they do on other sites, simply because you have so much going on on your site.

Here are a couple of suggestions though, related to both the Google adsense ads, and also your site in general.

    :: Your Page Titles.
You must use your <title> tags more effectively. At the moment on your home page, it simply says "front" !!!
You have to change this immediately, and include some of the keywords that your site is trying to target, such as Online Video, Funny Clips, etc. At the moment, the most valuable SEO tool your site has is being completely misused.

:: If you can, also try to add some unique Keywords and Description Meta tags to each of your pages.

:: At the moment on your homepage, I can see two horizontal adsense banners - 1 at the top and 1 right at the bottom. For me, the bottom one is showing public service ads. So in reality, you just have the 1 ad bar at the top from which you can attract links to.

:: The ad at the bottom of your page is pointless. I'd personally get rid of it. Its highly unlikely that any visitors to your site will scroll all the way down to the bottom of your home page. Try displaying an ad in the space on your left side ( where at the moment is a black block which says "New section coming soon" )

:: Try and use some text-only ads from Adsense. These do work well if placed well. I would recommend using one of these near the top of your page, underneath the strip of links that has - Contact Us, BOX Archives, etc.

I won't guarantee that this will instantly bring you clicks to your ads, but it's a good place to start in my opinion.

    Good luck

    Alex

I would say that the average CTR is around 1% - 3%, so I don't think anyone was smoking illegal substances there. It's more to do with your websites niche, how targeted your traffic is, how well your optimize/place your ads, etc.

If you look at a normal user they look around the site and stay on it if it is good say they are looking for a holiday they will look around the site if there aren't any good ones they look around and oh! there is a link to someone who does skiing holidays that sounds good they click. Sometimes good content kills, try putting ads in the middle of your pages between content.

Too many distractions on your website.
You would see some higher CTR if you website would meet some standards of the modern web standards (clean, simple, unique content, the list can get really long)
