I am a noobie webmaster, and I was wondering how to get past pr0. No one does a link exchange with pr0 websites.

Can anyone give me some tips.

Add back links to other websites and link directory websites that have PR.

Adding a few quality back links it more effective than adding many links from non-relevant sources.

Add a few fresh back links every few weeks or so and your Google PR should increase within a few months.

Don't worry about PR. Too many people focus on getting great PR. The only thing that matters is $$$. My most profitable sites are like PR1.

It's not difficult to get a PR1/2. Just submit to a 1000 free directories and you can be more or less assured of getting a PR1 (earlier getting PR3/4 was possible with this activity).

You can also get backlinks from blogs / forums etc. Getting PR2/3 can be done with 'bum marketing' methods. Getting past that requires more creativity, effort or money ;)

I also suggest these steps to get a PR, don't think much. just go through basics in one way link building as blog commenting, forum posting etc.

Submit to directories, as it's the easiest way to get links to your website.
But don't go to directories with PR6 or so, as your website will be on page 100+ and search engines will never find the link.
Concentrate on directories with low pr and find a place in the directory where your link will appear on first page.
Very new directories tend to have just a few listings and if your website appears on the first page search engines will pick it up faster.
Also remember, most directories sort websites by PR, thus as your website's pr starts going up you site will go up in the directories listings.

commenting on several dofollow blogs each day can increase your PR, probably some traffics too.

You need to ask yourself why do you want to get past PR0?

Why you want a higher page rank is a good question. one of the main benefits I can find of a higher PR is that your site will get crawled more often.

I agree with the above posts.. Work on writing articles, building backlinks with relevant anchor text, and obtaining more traffic to your website.

    Good luck with everything!

Newspaper sites are also good to get from PR 0 - PR 1. (Comment on stories) I got one link from one newspaper comment page and got PR 1 for it!

Since the PR of a URL is a measure of its link popularity - how many inbound links the URL has and how strong those links are - the only real onsite optimization you can do is possibly changing how the pages on your site interlink. The only real offsite optimization you can do is link development.

For example, if your page at URL A is only linked to from one other page URL B on your site, then Page B is the only page on your site passing PR to URL A (assuming URL B is indexed). If you add URL A to your footer now ALL of the pages on your site that are indexed will be passing URL A some portion of their PR.

Maybe your page is only linked to from a single page that is not even indexed. This means it's not begin passed any PR and only has the miniscule amount of PR that every page starts off with... Linking to it from your home page would suddenly pass it PR.

Other than changes to interlinking between pages on your site, there are no other onsite optimizations you can do to increase PR.
