Getting Paid to Blog Sth.

I've been a blogger for quite a while now, but I still don't get this one thing. Usually I run WordPress simply for its purpose, a blog about some news or a personal one. Currently, I'm running Wired Zune off of WordPress solely but it's proving itself to be a handy CMS too.

Now, this is something I do know. But let me get to my point. I don't understand how people are paid to blog about a website or a product. They say, "I'll blog about your site on xx amount of blogs for xx USD!" Well, are these blogs all relevant? Are there even subscribers or readers in these blogs?

Obviously a blog by the name of "techcrazyblog.com" or sth. along those lines blogging about a new game site or a perfume coming out next month isn't exactly related to the general topic of the blog.

Then, how do people who offer such services run their blogs? Are these solely splogs or do they have more sponsored posts than normal posts?

    Thanks.

The fact is that most of these postings are done for the value of contextual links and PR and less for the traffic.

With the advent of Pay per post, review me and many other similar companies, people are now viewing blogs as an easy way to make money. Many of them just set up WP on their own domain, add a few links here and there to get a PR, and then post on anything ( apart from porn, warez, gambling and other stuff)

These blogs appear to run solely for the purpose of making $$. They care a tuppence whether their blogs gets traffic and whether it looks like a blog or a splog.

And most of them are classified as general, so that they can blog on anything and everything under the sun.

Yes, there are some honest people who get more visitors in their network of blogs, and apart from making $$, also care for their blogs. But the number of false guys by far outnumber the genuine guys.
