traffic is King. If you got the high traffic, would be nice to consider focus on maintenance the traffic in itself. May you can play ad-u dot com. They've offering for high traffic CPM. 10.000UV = $50 for the UK, US, Canada.

What type of product are your promoting ? Also where does your traffic is from ?

    Amazon needs targeted traffic.

yea the key to amazon is TARGETED traffic you can be getting many clicks but if the audience is not specifically targeted it is a waste of time. I have had this problem in the past, i then changed the way i was promoting amazon to target high interest targeted customers results straight of the bat.

The number of clicks might not be telling you much, it could be lots of crawlers. If you haven't already, implement some filtering.

The number of search referrals is the best indicator of potential sales on my amazon stores, those are the people actually looking to buy and searching for my product, when my search referral numbers drop my sales drop. By reviewing the actual search terms people entered to arrive at my site, it also guides my work on the site.

It may be that you are not driving targeted traffic to your site, or you could be doing something weird to have 5000 hits and very little conversion.

I get about 300-500 hits and ship lots of items daily. If I get half of your traffic it would be dream come true. That said, make sure there's nothing wrong with your affiliate links.

    Good luck

Your traffic might not be in "buying mode". A good example people use... if someone searches for "chicken recipes" then it is very unlikely they want to buy a recipe book etc. and are looking for recipes online. If they search for "chicken recipe book" then they are much more likely to be buying.

I would suggest putting some unique content 'buying guides' related to the products your promoting, this will help people purchasing to consider buying a product. Its the best way.

you should be targeting buying traffic by optimizing your site to receive buyer keyword traffic . These are visitor that are the edge of buying. This are visitor searching for product names and reviews

I say researching the products you are trying to promote and find some related keywords to your product. After you do that use those related keywords or targeted keywords in your posts or content as the products links to Amazon and see will that help..

Yup, there's lots of good advice here. Keep in mind that traffic quality is of the essence, not quality. I have a blog with 4-5k daily visitors and using it to display amazon ads is useless even if I keep it relevant to each post (will lead to maybe 1-2 sales per month, mostly on low-price products such as DVDs and such). I have another blog with just 40-50 daily visitors and it consistently gets something like 3-10 sales per day! And it's a high-ticket product as well, with some rather enticing comissions.

If you want to figure out the amazon puzzle: try to understand the buyer's cycle, and figure a way to have people find your amazon website just when they're on the verge of buying.

We recently implemented Amazon links on our classifieds site (in addition to Google adsense, which is working well) - yet the Amazon affiliate program is giving us limited success so far.

Any feedback on what we are doing here? We are using both the "product cloud" and the "omakase" widget, both on category listings pages and ad listings pages.

check out treidr.com and let us know how we can improve !

    regards,
    J

Would suggest that you focus on conversions...

You need to also look at how long visitors are staying on you pages.

    1. Changing offers
    2. Site Structure: Start with Heading and make one change at a time and test
    3. 1.5 to 2% is a good conversion ratio

    You have to test,test,test

    Hope this helps.

Hits are NOT people. You can get thousands of hits from bots.

You should definitely implement some filtering and figure out whats going on. I make pretty good sales every month with about 1/5 of that traffic. And what most people are saying about targeted traffic is completely true. You need to get them when they are in buy mode.
