I have a page on my site that ranks on page 6 for what will be a very hot keyword over the next few weeks. I want to get it on the first page, which is mostly dominated by ecommerce sites with no backlinks to their pages on the product. What is the best way to optimize my page to get it on the first page quickly? Where should I be looking to get backlinks from?

You probably won't be able to achieve that with backlinks that fast. Depending on your actual page set up there is a chance with clever onpage optimization, but without knowing anything about your page/site hard to say and impossible to give advice.

if your site is old enough (minimum 2 month), it should be easy the get at the first page for low to medium competitive keywords. it is also depends on your site backlinks (with keywords as anchor text) and on page SEO optimization.
If you write a unique and fresh content like news and reviews and making keywords density in title of that page, most possibly it will come on 1st page by targeted keywords.

Oh the art of high SERPs. First, there are no "link scenarios" that will be registered by Google in time. So linking is out. Second, I'm assuming you have already completed a Top 10 Competitor review of your website/page. And the site is not new (ie In the Sandbox) . If you have not done this, do it NOW!!!! You are out of time. And I hope Google will index the site within the week! Without going to Black Hat, I would set up a Adwords PPC campaign that targets the World. Then target terms link "Christmas", "Xmas", etc. but set to CPC very low (~$0.10) and set the Position Preference to "2-8". I would create a nice International ad that would attract clicks (worldwide). This burst in short term traffic will give you a 5 to 10 SERP boost per day and not cost you that much. Only Traffic can move your page in the timeframe you have but your OnPage SEO must be solid.
Its all depends on the competiton. If your keyword does not have a tough competiton then things can heppen in a faster way.
You could do it in 3 days, no problem. But what it really depends on is how old your domain is. If you have a fresh domain, under a year old, then it might be a little tough, unless the keyword competition isn't competitive. If it's a decently old domain, then you just need to get a 3-10 really good links with your anchor text and you're golden.
