Hi, Excuse the basic questions here but still quite new!!! I have the following site: http://www.algarverentalapartments.com which is doing well on msn.com, however its not doing too well (or even appearing) on .co.uk do you know if i need to submit to that seperately, and on that note is this the case for most search engines (submit to global then regional?) appreciate any help you can give Neil
That seems to be the case. It is what I have noticed recently, although you can still rank on .com - I usually find my ranking is now lower.
Try sprinkling "UK" in the text somewhere, see if that helps. After all, if there is no mention of UK in your text how would google determine its relevant for the UK audience.
You certainly don't need to be in the UK. One of my sites in on a 1and1 server - located in Germany I think. It's a .com domain and I feature highly on MSN & Yahoo (both .co.uk & .com) - google's disappeared for some reason atm. Not highly competitive keywords. The site is certainly targetted at the uk - no doubt about that - that's where the cricket club is located. I'm not aware of much mention of uk in the text - unless the algo's are good enough to work it out. Which they may well be.
