(sorry mods if this is in wrong place couldnt find any where else where it could be) hi, I run a location specific fishing forum/site here in the united states. we have only been open for about 9 months and we got 400 members. however most came from other forums when members on my site posted there. what can i do to get the word of my site better out there? for instance we had a competition in august against another fishing site from the same state and all their guys never even heard of my site. am i doing something wrong? i really have big plans for it but i need some tips on how i can better spread the word of it. flyers for the site were posted at fishing boat launches and in tackle shops
Spending some time at other forums with a link to your forum in your signature can attract new visitors. Doing some advertising couldnt hurt and doing some contests that reward your site visitors can increase loyalty and gain new members.
another thing you could do is a referral program....for example if you implemented something or made some code for ppl that refer ppl they get some sorta incintive (maybe x number of ppl they get to join you give them a vip account or whatever, special title, options that others dont have) where they can earn something for their work, it might help just a suggestion i am admin of judgeme.net and im tryin to do the same thing, tho we have 45000 user account, alot are stagnant...its hard starting out......but good luck
K thanks. I spend time on other forums that are related, I have a fish of the month contest where winner recieves $15. Advertising I was thinking of. I tried adwords but maybe a local fishing magazine? Any more suggestions
