Me, me. I'm an editor! There's an internal application procedure to request further permissions. It's evaluated more toughly than a new application because you're supposed to have learned the basics of the job by then. We like to start newbies out in small categories of up around 100 listings (including its subcategories). It's a damage limitation thing. A little larger is possible with an excellent application. We're most comfortable with 15-50 because that gives enough scope to learn the job and isn't too daunting. There are some buts though: Some 'popular' categories have huge numbers of websites awaiting evaluation - may of them spam or MFA. They aren't good starting points. Some categories can be difficult for a newbie to edit. For example, county level categories because most websites belong in their localities, not at county level. Category editors don't process editor applications. Meta editors and catmods do. In any event, it's pretty hard to protect ones turf when a coupla hundred of us have the permissions to edit everywhere - and we do .
An editor! Can we ask you other questions too? Such as, is it really easier to become an editor and add in our own site (mmm corruption) than to wait the entire queue process and hope for the best? But honestly, can DMOZ actually help my SERPs?
You can ask him........ Or you can just read the hundreds of other threads in here, that revolve around those exact questions.
Providing that it's the sort of website that we list, listing your own website in an appropriate category isn't corruption. Listing eightyleven deeplinks or fraternal mirrors of it probably is. If somebody becomes an editor, the simplest way to keep their integrity intact is to leave their owner/SEO hat at the door. No idea, not interested in finding out and don't care. We're building a directory here, not promoting websites. There is a difference
How long is a piece of string? Like I said, list it and forget it. You may or may not get listed. I'd suggest concentrating on better ways of generating traffic and PR than waiting on a DMOZ listing to be fulfilled.
it is difficult to get listed in dmoz i have submitted few of my sites months ago but still waiting for miracle
Getting listed is a crapshoot, and the only thing that can really be done is to submit ONCE and then walk away. Submit to other directories, as there are thousands of free ones out there.
yes, I have listed in DMOZ, just submit with brief Title and Description, it will take sometime to be approved
