Can anyone offer any advice in getting my site listed in DMOZ?

Or does anyone know anyone that is an editor within DMOZ???

Submit only once and follow their posted guidelines to the letter. From there just cross your fingers.

You always hear about corrupt editors getting sites in for $$$ but I have never found any actual evidence of that being true.

Good luck as you will need it.

    Become friends with editors?
Build the best site you can build and hope for the best?
    Submit and forget?
Forget to submit? (really, some editors don't bother with the submission queue, so your chances are just as good)
Pay for a listing? (This runs the risk of getting the site banned forever)

Either way, don't forget, DMOZ is not the only free directory out there. Submit to other free directories as well, and when doing so remember to alter your keywords and descriptions, as that'll keep the rest of the directories from becoming penalized for duplicate content.

I have submited my website in DMOZ over a year ago but i'm not listed and i really dislike the fact that they don't even send you an e-mail telling you that you were not accepted into it.

BTW: Should i try to re-submit my site or should i wait? Any recommandations?

Will you hear from them if they accept or deny you? If I haven't received a reply for my site's submission, does that mean it's still in the queue?

I am having a really tough time with this myself...I am probably blacklisted from dmoz by now with the number of times I have tried to submit my site. Too bad it isn't 2001 still

Every time you submit your site, it goes back to the end of the line.

So if you waited 6 months and were not in the middle of the sites waiting to get reviewed, but you get impatient so you submit again, you are now all the way back at the end and you just made those 6 months you waited mean nothing.

Submit once, and forget about it.

....and then, if you were lazy and did not submit to the exact category and subcat, when it does get reviewed, they editor may have to send it where it should have gone to start with, because he or she hasnt got permissions to edit in that category. So you go to the bottom of that queue.

Thats why its important to submit once, to the EXACT cat and then just move on. You can do nothing else that will help.......ANYTHING you do will only delay the review.

But i guess you have heard this a thousand times ;)

Thank you for the advice, I did not know that. I believe the seo person I hired just did it again, so maybe in a year they might get around to approving it. Oh well...at this point I wasn't even counting on the possibility of getting listed on there anymore.

A quick question: are any of you guys dmoz editors? If so, can you change/edit other categories besides the one you chose to be editor for or do you have to repeat the editor submission process?

It's just that I wanted to become an editor in a category with only a handful of entries and they knocked me back stating that I should become editor of a category that has fewer entries -say what!! I don't know if the editor protecting his turf or what? Sorry if it sounds like a lame question to ask you guys. ;-)
