I might be missing the point, but all i do is join forums and post away! Just make sure your sig is done before hand! Now and again, via these forums i get a banner ad swap with someone, so i think you could do alot worse than joining up with some relevant forums and promote yourself in your signatures. If you know of another way, please divulge!
