Ah. You may have read a lot of speculation that a listing in the ODP (Dmoz) gets extra love from Google. That's not the case. Google spokesmen have denied it over and over. It's really not worth shedding blood, sweat and tears for. The best advice is just to submit and forget. One day you might get listed - and you will find it makes no difference, if by then you have good links from other sites.

My beef with DMOZ is that they dont take an objective stance on adding websites. I could care less about mine being listed, but when I take a look through DMOZ and find porn sites or MFA sites while other quality sites get overlooked, I just wonder why people give DMOZ such high regard.

Citizen - There has been a lot of determination within the Open Directory to improve the quality of listings. When it was founded, its aim was to be the biggest, most comprehensive directory on the Internet. That goal was rapidly achieved and editors then began to think more about quality over quantity, particularly as we saw more and more useless spam being churned out.

It's been a gradual process over the years, so there are sites in the directory which we wouldn't list today. Not to mention the problem that a site can change its content after listing. If you spot a listing that you think doesn't fit our current guidelines, you might like to report it over here: http://resource-zone.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=12

Porn should not be listed anywhere outside Adult. If you see any porn anywhere else, please do let us know.

MFA sites are less easily defined, so a lot of thought went into new guidelines recently, to restrict the listing of this type of site.

I like the topix and rubylane pages, so I like to offer bribe to any editor who likes to add more deep links for topix and rubylane. This is a bribe offer to all editors for these 2 sites.

Now, let' see if you dare to ban these sites. I bet you can't.

GWorld - You seem to have missed the part where your sites get banned permanently as a result of offering a bribe. You don't own Topix. You don't own Rublylane.

GWorld - give it up. There is no chance of the Open Directory allowing malicious persons/competitors to remove listings by pretending to own sites that they have nothing to do with.
