Rules Getting infractions

Is there any way to challenge an infraction? I got one which I deserved (based on the rules I agreed to, but it was still stupid) and another for something stupid, replying to a spammer in a sarcastic manner. Is there any basis for challenging, I hate being reprimanded and this is eating at me. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Nope. If you challenge it, a.k.a. complain, you'll most likely get another infraction. You're welcomed to try but in most cases, you deserve all your infractions.

Is replying to a spammer in a sarcastic manner, or any manner really, necessary? No. What you should have done is just report the spammer's post and let the staff handle it.

DP is great precisely because it has different rules than other places, but lets be honest, nobody reads the TOS. Just found it strange to get a random email that I had been dinged a few weeks later for a thread that likely got zero replies and deleted. Do moderators comb the site looking to give infractions or did one stumble onto it? If you are a mod, I come in peace! How many infractions can one get before getting into trouble? I don't feel like trying to find it.

It mostly got stumbled upon by a staff member or got reported by a member.

To be honest, the rules are there for you to read. By registering to the forum you agree to the rules. Whether or not you've read them is you're problem.

    10 infractions = BAN

10 infractions, that is overly generous! I think I can avoid that no problem, thanks for the quick reply, and I will catch up on the TOS when I have some time....

Moderators rarely reverse infractions. You can ask them though but you might get another one in exchange :)

Plus, to get the real picture, you have to see how spammy the post I was replying to, was.
