Does anyone know the code to put in Yahoo search if I want to get the .gov and .edu backlink details of a specific site?
I know how to get the regular backlink details of a site from Yahoo but I can't get it to specify particular urls.

I don't use Yahoo Site Explorer, but a program called SEO Elite...you pop in the url of the domain in question and it will populate a list of "all" the backlinks of a site plus their PR, if they a no-follow or not, number of external links, domain age...so the scope of information is far greater than what you would receive from Yahoo Site Explorer.

I know explorer can give a list of backlinks but what I need is to be able to isolate the url types eg. .com,.org etc...which I don't think it does.

This is closer but the way seo book works is it lists the number of links from different extensions like .edu,..gov and all you do is select the number and a yahoo page pops up with a list of all the specified extensions backlinking to that site,if that makes any sense.
So seeing as it no longer works, all I need is the code that goes into Yahoo search to extract this information if anyone out there know it I'd appreciate it muchos.

Yahoo Site Explorer will get you all the information that is much closer. Ofcourse, SEO Elite can also do but the flexibility and UE varies from one to another.

First, go to Yahoo.com and click inside the search bar. In the search bar you need to type in site:[your url], replacing the sample domain name with your own of course. Then hit enter or click on "Web Search".

Do you think backlinks from edu site really gives you a lift?
Why not something else like rss feed submission and making squidoo lenses plus hubpages

    Thanks Troyj.
I'm not sure if edu links give a lift or not but I'm trying everything at the moment.
If only I could get the code to insert in yahoo to isolate specific extensions in results of site backlinks it would be great but so far nobody on here seems to know it.
I've done squidoo and hubpages too but it's always good to try a bit of everything.

If anyone out there knows the code to use in yahoo and the answer to the original question that would be nice too.

    Cheers :D
