What is the best way to get indexed? How long would it take to get indexed if I submit my site to Yahoo's directory (which has a pr of 9)
submitting to big directorys is not point, they have to approve, if u have good backlinks your site can be indexed in single day
Use your signature in forum and put link to your site there. Anyway you are asking your questions. Just verify rules of exact forum that you are using. Some forums don't allow to do this.
if any other website have your site link in there site that is called backlink to your website so if u site link is placed in big sites then your site PR also increase.
Look for free plug websites. This will let the spiders find your site without you having to submit it yourself.
Think of electricity; a house and its internal wiring could be used as a metaphor to describe your website. All the pages (rooms) are linked (wired) together. However, your site will not be indexed (the lights won't come on) until you have inbound links pointing to your site (turning on the electricity). A search engine spider finds a link to your site on another website, one that is already indexed, and follows the link back to your site and indexes it, much in the same way electrical current follows wiring.
I'd have to say "better" is a subjective term -- as in, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." I have personally read SEO Book by Aaron Wall; it has some excellent tips and resources and Aaron has done some really fine self-promotion of his product. He certainly deserves the recognition he receives. At the same time though, I believe our SEO e-book not only compares well with Aaron's, in some aspects (as mentioned elsewhere) it exceeds his. Of course, I'm only going by what customers are telling me.
If a person adds up all their time spent browsing other sites and forums researching SEO and website marketing, posting & asking questions, waiting for replies, deciding what to do, or why not to do it, getting more information, then comparing it someone else, etc., etc., etc. for days, perhaps months on end -- you could literally "spend" the equivalent of a hundred SEO training courses in lost time. How much is your time worth to you? ...in hourly wages? Could you "spend" that time more efficiently? Whether from Aaron Wall's, mine, or someone else's SEO course, your research time is better "spent" getting all the information you need first from a reliable source, then followup with any issues in a forum such as here at DP and other webmaster communities on the Net.
You're right. Ive been browsing yahoo/google for SEO tips. Ive come upon a few but then I realized that many of these ppl might not know what they are talking about. Well, from whoever I buy next, I hope they are reliable.
You also need to consider the PR of the site in which you obtain backlinks. A PR7 or higher website (like this forum) will get your site picked up in less than 48 hours. Lower than PR7 will take a bit longer. Good luck.
I disagree with getting an inbound link to your site from just any 'ole place because it has high PR -- including this forum. Ultimately, your site becomes associated with origin linking site, as well as the other outbound links found throughout the site's pages. If your site is about bicycles, stick to finding other websites with related topics concerning bicycles -- i.e. building bicycles, riding bicycles, antique bicycles, modifying bicycles, parts for bicycles, bicycle adventures, the history of bicycles, etc. Then work towards acquiring inbounds from those type sites. Besides, why would any webmaster want to link with an off-topic site? If a hard-won visitor surfing your bicycle site finds mixed, off-topic content and links on everything from moon probes to rabbit cages, they'll leave immediately, kick your site to the curb and never come back.
ok I have a site about nutrition/money making opportunity. so you recommend putting my site on my signature on a nutrition/money making opportunity forum?
The issue being addressed was getting indexed and any backlink will work for what I consider that short term goal. I do agree that for long term PR and SERP rankings you will want backlinks from authority sites with related theme to your site. Good luck.
My personal opinion is that nutrition and finances are two completely different subjects and industries. Attempting to position the site for a combination of these terms will at best prove very difficult, and at minimum, almost impossible. You'd probably be better served by dividing the content up by different pages and areas -- main pages for nutrition, then extra information on an affiliate program, etc. As for a forum signature link (or a link anywhere for that matter) high visibility is especially effective when the link is placed within topic specific content --- to pre-qualify your visitors.
