Getting index on Google - What am I doing wrong?

What is it mean if your site didn't get indexed by Google for months? I've been waiting for Google to index one of my sites since April and it is not happening.

However around the same period I've registered few other domain names and only had an indexed page on it with no activity and they got picked up. No links from anywhere to those sites and they got picked up.

Why does this happen? How often does Google index new sites?

    Thank you.

    Ouch

Do you use Google Sitemaps? You don't have to create Sitemaps itself but it could give you some stats about your site and hopefully some clues.

Try using forum sigs, google visits forums regularly and you'll get indexed fast. New sites will generally appear in and out of the index for the first month or so until you gather significant link popularity to be a "good" rescource.

Also you may consider buying a link on a high Pr site because you can be indexed in under 24hrs!

One way I have always been listed on google within a few days is by linking one of my high traffic sites to the new domain I wanted to get listed. After recieving a decent amount of visits, and due to the fact that my other sites are listed on google, it will list me within days.

i have the same problem - so far, over the past 3 years, 2 of my sites have experienced this. the first one finally got indexed after many months. the 2nd one has been around for about a month now and have yet to be indexed.

all my other sites get indexed within 1-2 weeks if i put links in my forum signatures. don't know why it happens - have written to google but only gotten canned responses. :(

Google crawlers follow every link they find to the source, therefore if your getting linked to from a site that gets indexed allot (forums, or any site that recieves lots of link) You are more likly to get indexed. Type PAGE RANK into google and have a read.

I never submit my pages to any sites, I just make sure there are an ample supply of backlinks to my sites.

This will easily provide you with indexing on all the major engines, but not necessariliy traffic.
