Getting high traffic?

Other then link developments, what other things impact traffic other then PageRank and google results? I think traffic is more important then Page rank, but advertising isn't my strong point.

 

- get links on related sites. (its soo much easier to have that traffic from other popular established sites to come to you)
- offline advertisement (if you want)
- Press Releases tell people about your site
- contests
and so on...

 

I think another way is to go to a forum that is related to your website, and post helpful information. Place a link to your website, and you can generate traffic from that.

 

I have actually done that but it really depends of the theme of the forum. Some of which can be VERY effective yet some no response at all.

 

Set up a blog on a subdomain of your site, and submit articles to directories (be careful to chose the right keywords if you want more free traffic).

join related forums and post meaningful answers/details to some threads.
and put your website link to your signature.

 

I get a lot of traffic by writting articles and submitting to places like www.ezinearticles.com. A lot of realted sites will post my articles on their sites for content and it has a link back to my site. This helps get traffic and backlinks.

Many people ask this question when they dont know how to advertise there product.

Before you start a project with a new product you have to know where the people are and how to get them to your site.

This is done by checking forums, newsletters, other sites, and articles online for problems and see aif you can provide the answers.

This way, you know where the people are and how to get to them.
