Is it possible to get a page 1 rank for a .info name? I'm trying lots of searches to test it, and haven't found one yet. Is there any good strategy for getting popularity for these domain name types? Just wondering.
Do you need a PR1 or a higher PR like 3,4,5 will do. I have got 2 PR3 .info domains regged in November & got PR right now. IMO , PR does not have nething to do with the extension
To get a good PR, you need lots of inbound links from URL's that also have good PR. Your top level domain doesn't have anything to do with it.
there is no difference a .com domain or a .info domain . if you want that domain to get good serp results ; * you must optimize your site * you must find backlinks for your site like the other domains
I'm pretty sure you're confusing your terms... PR usually means PageRank, whereas it looks like you're asking if you can get a .info site to rank on page 1 of the serps. Either way, trichnosis is right, no difference really between top level domains. -Michael
got it - thanks. I kind of thought that .com's would always overpower all other extensions when it came to that.
Yes, this is possible. It's possible with any domain. The key, as always, is incoming links and quality content.
I have a pr3 .info directory, http://www.bluelinkdir.info so you definately can get pagerank for these types of domains
domain extension doesnt really matter. just do some link exchanges, place your link to forum sigs, and submit your site to directories. those things would definitely help you gain some PR.
All you need is quality backlinks and your pagerank on next update will be PR1/2/4 etc depends on the quality of backlinks no matter what is the extension of your domain.. Saad
I have one PR5 for my .info domain. When I purchased the .info extension, I was mainly interested with the price (ie: $2.98 per year, as opposed to $8.95 per year for .com) I don't think Google sees .com vs .info differently. Check my .info current PageRank here.
i've never seen a site which is held back because of its extension. Similarly i don't think that some domain extensions can give you a higher rankings over others... well except for maybe .gov
