which one of these is inaccurate? i was researching a keyword using google keywordtool and another tool. google tool said that the keyword average search is 22,000 monthly and the other says 35,000. i checked the traffic details for the site ranking #1 in google on alexa. Alexa states that the site that ranks number one for that keyword and 3 for couple other isn't recieving any traffic. Why is this?
I assume you used Google's external keyword tool, right? that tool is always off by a bit. I've noticed that sometimes their stats are wildly inaccurate, other times they seem about right. I usually use Wordtracker for daily search numbers and Google's tool for monthly and average them out somewhere in the middle - that seems to be about right although you can never be sure. DAn
I used very often the Google keyword tool and i think is more or less accurated. At least it gives you an idea. Wrodtracker is not free...
use wordtracker for keyword research. you find huge difference in search volume of many keywords compare to google keyword tool.
Alexa is useless .. dont trust much on alexa !! However, tools like wordtracker etc .. are not accurate !! I suggest you to use "Google Insight for Search"
I personally use Google Adword External Keyword Suggestion Tool too but i know, we can't rely on tools.
It is right there are lot of confess about keywords traffics. But some keywords not showing any traffics on any tool but site is getting lot of traffics form that keywords. Tools show high competitive but site not get any single visitor. I think google tool show paid keywords traffics as adword tool show adword traffics only not free searching.
yes this also happened to me. Few months back when i was just researching then i found such differences. Well it happens hardly for some keywords.
