Man, listen: This is a well known secret: Google indexes a LOT of pages. And the Googlebot's speed.. well it's not incredible. You just have to wait. sometimes it's 10 minutes (for Squidoo and other Web 2.0 properties), sometimes it's 1 hour (for news items and blogs), sometimes it's 1 or 2 days (for big trusted sites), and it's sometimes takes some months for a new site. With new site I mean new to Google. If your site just doesn't look like the one before and it's on another domain: IT'S NEW!

It's the best way to do it, simply go ahead and Google ".htaccess L301 redirection".

ThomasChilser - Yes, lots have said that already but I have been having enormous problems getting Google to forget my old sitemap and pick up the new one! It insists on checking all of the old addresses over and over again.
IEmailer.com - I really have tried this but simply cannot work out what I should be doing. All I want is a simple statement that picks up all attempts to access a particular folder or sub-folder thereof and redirects to a single URL but I just cannot seem to get my code working whatever I try (it just kills the site). Any suggestions or ideas specifically where to look would be appreciated. I just cannot believe how difficult it is to find help on this on the Internet!

Right - new site-map and all links now in-line, rather than JS. Here's hoping that something works!

Still stuck with the 301 redirections below the / folder and with parameters (which should be dropped).
