Whay does Google keep flactuating the number of pages they index? For the last few days one of my sites has had 20% reduction in pages indexed while another has had about 60% reduction and has been like that for about 2 months now, both resulting in significant traffic drop. What is the best way to get Google re-indexing maximum number of pages?

If you are changing the link structure, consider resubmitting a site map.

It is quite well known that Google is changing its strategies very regularly. Hence it is no wonder that Google may keep fluctuating the number of pages they index… :)

Submit an XML sitemap in Google Webmasters Tools, and make sure every page have at least on text link from other indexed pages within your website... an HTML sitemap might be helpful as well..

You might also consider checking your website content for duplicated content issues it might be the reason for such drop in indexing, and always try to get (Deep Links) for the main internal pages in your website.

You can use RSS Feed to tell Google about your contents.
