I maintain a site, which was in WordPress hosting earlier but now we have shifted it to other CMS, but still when we search in Google by the following syntax "site:http://www.ourdomainname.com/ it still shows those url which does not exist anymore and while I try to open those pages it gives me the following error. "404- Page not found". But in my hosting server I am not able to find those url so that I can remove them. Please suggest me what should I do.
you probably need it recached. if you have a rss feed submit it to a few feeders and if you dont put in a plug in and do it, this should fix it fast
This is a common issue when you switched CMS and the new URL are not similar as the previous one. You need to do 301 redirect each and every pages from old to a new one instead of got them removed. If you got them removed then it would take much longer time for Google to re cache all those new pages.
