It doesnt matter how relevant the link is if its from a spam domain then its not gonna have any benefit at all. To say 'screw trust' is just ignorance
You understand perfectly. Duh. Manipulating the SERPs with questionable techniques will also be frowned upon. That is understood and accepted.
I think some missed the point I was making about edu pages and TrustRank. It's not the edu extension that matters, it's the fact that some edu pages have lots of other edu sites (and .orgs) linking to them. That gives them more trust.
Previously i thought it has good weightage., But now iam thinking that its treated as just an another link., Dont know about .gov liinks yet.,
You are overgeneralizing. Most .edu pages have worthless content on them because they are created by students. The pages run by universities that also have good content might have "trust" but so does any page with decent content. Still, these .edu pages are in the minority.
I think I explained it in my previous posts. Its because of the Myth that people think they can charge more for it and they find others who believe in the myth willing to pay for it.
A presell page is an article with your links in it. You get other webmasters to put them on their page in the hope that Google gives it more value than some other out of context link (which seems to be true anyways). I was just explaining why people can charge more for an edu link. The value of any faith is given only by means of its followers. Belief is power and money.
Truth is, nobody knows for sure, it's all conjecture; like most things in SEO. But when someone like Jim Boykin lends his support to edu and TrustRank, you have to sit up and pay attention. Nuff said
Even though I agree with you on the relevancy of edu links, I don't trust a single thing google says. I think they are pretty good ad putting up smoke screens.
you can get .edu links from student pages. if you are student then you can do it on your own or else buy from some one for a cheap rate.
LOL at trusting anything anyone from Google says Sometimes people need to come out of Google's ass long enough to take in a breath, and see the big picture. Little green bar, anyone? LOL
When has Google lied about anything algorithm related (or anything in general)? You distrust PR and yet PR is a published formula. I think you're more paranoid then you should be. Google has no reason to lie about their algorithm.
you are all so wrong, go ahead and get about 300-500 links to your site and wait a few months for google to pick them all up and check your rankings. Then just for fun get a good edu link with your anchor text and wait about a week and then check your rankings. Then if you really want to have some fun, go for a .gov link.
Where can i find the link to see this post from Matt Cutts? I'm currently working on getting links from .gov and .edu. I made a competitor analysis and the sites above me on the SERPs are linked to more .edu and .gov sites than mine. so i believe this could benefit a site. IMO, these sites get a good traffic as they are oftentimes published on magazines, newspapers.
