Is there a way to get dmoz descriptions for a list of urls automatically?

I was hoping that there may be an xml solution somewhere but can't find it.

but be aware that dmoz xml database is not the valid xml document so you'll have a hard time loading it into any xml reader software

How about creating a snippet of code that will parse the links you want?

Great idea. I just did this but my host has a firewall which would need to be configured to allow access to all 1000 sites.

    Any other ideas?:)

Yes, but you have to parse it to pull out what you want - less than trivial. It's not a database, it's DMOZ'a own format, not fully documented and full of little traps for the unsuspecting.
