Getting different image background colours and bad alignement as well...

Hi, im fuser and ive just created yesterday (and im still working on it) a site called Wikli (www.wikli.com) .. basically its a site where you can search all of the wikipedia content. For example, when you search for something at wikipedia, it only shows you the page title. Wikli shows you the title, a brief description of it and the url. Im still thinking of some features to add but thats another story.

Here the trouble. Ive tested Wikli on Firefox, IE (for mac), Opera and Safari. On Firefox and Opera, the logo looked great. On Internet Explorer for MAC and Safari on the other hand, the logo had darker background that made it look awful.. why is this happening?

Also, when you go to www.wikli.com/about , the text is not aligned correctly... how can i fix this?

    Thanks everybody for your help,

    fuser

    Ahh this old chestnut :D
The problem you are having with your logo is to do with IE not displaying .PNG alpha channels (transparency) correctly.

There's some information about it (and a fix) here :
    http://koivi.com/ie-png-transparency/

and some good stuff about image formats (briefly touches on the IE .PNG problem and has a tester but doesn't offer a solution) here :

    http://www.r1ch.net/img-formats/

or do a quick google for 'IE png alpha channels'.

In your case, if you do not intend to change the background colour, why not alter your logo image to have a background the same colour as your page?

Yeah it's possible they would look different, they use different rendering engines I believe. (Trident for windows and Tasman for Mac IE).

However, the site looks fine for me on windows IE now. (Vista + IE7)
